EVART — Along with remembering those who have lost their lives in combat, Memorial Day weekend will once again offer the annual Evart Chamber Flea Market, which will likely offer deals for even the most thrifty shopper.

This year's event will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, May 22, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, at the Evart Municipal Airport.

In the past, the market has drawn hundreds of attendees, and market master Larry Lewis believes this year will be even larger, expecting thousands within the two-day period.

Vendor registration is filling quickly, as many sellers return year after year due to the great turnout, Lewis said. Vendors are still welcome to register, and sites are $20 per booth.

"I have 52 vendors already signed up," he added. "We expect a full showing of 80 vendors. I'm getting calls every day. We can expand if we need to."

Shoppers will find everything they need, he added, including food, leather, woodworking, coins, art, books, toys for children, crafts, furniture and more. Vendors come from all over the state and also from the local communities, showcasing their wares.

The flea market always has been a popular event, and Lewis credits the City of Evart for some of the reason why.

"I think Evart always has been a nice little town, and a lot of people pass through it on their way to Ludington or Cadillac and stop," Lewis said. "The flea market is a really nice local event and showcases some of the local talent, too."
