Police investigating numerous business break-ins throughout Osceola County

OSCEOLA COUNTY — A string of business breaking-and-enterings throughout Osceola County has police asking for the public’s help.

Within a two-week period, at least five breaking-and-enterings at businesses have been reported to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

The Rose Golf Course has been broken into twice, the first incident occurring between April 19-23. Mineral Springs Pizza Pub and Grill, Tustin Trails Golf Course and Duddles Tree Farm also have been targeted.

In all the incidents, the suspect or suspects forced entry in a similar fashion, said Osceola County Sheriff’s Office Undersheriff Justin Halladay.

“One breaking-and-entering report is ‘OK. This happens from time to time.’ Two is a bit strange, three is not a coincidence and the climbing numbers definitely point to the incidents being interconnected,” Halladay said.

Electronics, computers, cash, cash registers and safes were stolen from the businesses. While the owners are still itemizing their losses to determine the damage, Halladay estimates thousands of dollars in cash and valuables were taken.

There also may be other businesses who were broken into, but the owners have not yet come forward, Halladay said.

“They may have thought it wasn’t a big deal or they didn’t want to bother us, but we need to know about it in case it’s related and there is additional evidence or information out there,” Halladay said.

The sheriff’s office is seeking the public’s help and is asking for any information related to the crime to be reported to the sheriff’s office or to Silent Observer.

“We want to get this information out to public so they know it’s happening,” Halladay said. “We’re doing what we can, but we want to see if anyone has seen anything or noticed anything suspicious.”

Silent observer allows tipsters to remain anonymous and also offers rewards for information that leads to identifying and arresting those responsible for crimes.
