Plant swap in Reed City helps gardens grow

REED CITY — The plant and seed swap event held at Reed City’s Depot brought in a steady stream of gardeners this past Saturday.

Beautiful weather definitely got some in the mood for new plants.

Robin Hamilton organized the event after hearing how well they do in other areas. Many different plants and flowers filled the picnic tables, ready to be swapped between local gardeners.

One community member even dropped off two huge boxes of irises free to anyone. The wonderful thing about an event like this is that gardeners are sharing their extra plants with each other and going home with something new.

All without spending a dime!

Hamilton is hoping this can become an annual event and be even bigger next year with more variety of plants to choose from.
