Pine River schools holding Veterans Day programs

LEROY — Students attending Pine River Area Schools will recognize local veterans on Veterans Day, Friday, Nov. 11.

Elementary and middle school students are presenting “Honoring Our Veterans,” with the elementary school program at 10 a.m. at the school, located at 408 W. Gilbert St. The middle school event will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the school, located at 17445 Pine River Road.

Both events will include performances of patriotic songs.

All veterans, active-duty service members and the community are invited to join students in honoring and thanking those who sacrificed for the country.

Pine River High School’s Leadership Class will present a Veterans Day assembly at 1:45 p.m. in the school’s gymnasium.

The assembly will consist of passages read by Leadership Class members, as well as performances by the choir and band, including the service songs for each military branch. A video tribute, created by the communications technologies class, also will be shown.

High school seniors who are entering the armed forces upon graduation will perform a flag-folding ceremony with local veteran Robert Cascaddan.

“We would like to invite any and all veterans from our area to attend our assembly honoring them,” said Parker Moores, a member of the Leadership Class.

The assembly will conclude around 2:45 p.m.

Reserved seating up front will be for veterans and guests, including those who may need assistance.
