Beal City 77, Evart 53 EVART - Evart (5-12, 2-7) dropped this Highland Conference game to Beal City on Monday. Evart is at Manton on Friday. GIRLS BASKETBALL Morley Stanwood 42, Reed City 25 MORLEY - The Mohawks used a 12-2 third quarter to pull away from the Coyotes for the win. Morley Stanwood led 19-11 at halftime. Morley Stanwood's Brooke Brauher had 16 points and 10 rebounds and Breanna Berry had 13 points, five rebounds, and three steals. Taylor Harrison led the Coyotes with eight points. Morley Stanwood (9-6, 5-3) hosts Beal City on Wednesday and Reed City (2-12, 1-8) is at Big Rapids on Friday. McBain 52, Pine River 23 LEROY - The Bucks fell to the Ramblers by 29 points on Monday in Highland Conference action. Hailey Wanstead had 12 points and four rebounds, and Taylor Hill added six rebounds. Pine River (0-13, 0-8) is at McBain Northern Michigan Christian on Thursday. Harrison 57, Evart 36 HARRISON - Evart (5-7) dropped this nonleague game on Feb. 6\u00a0to Harrison (6-5). Harrison led 31-18 at halftime. Leading scorers for Evart were Kelci Elder (16), Hannah Wetters (11) and Skyler Baumgardner (5). "We played well for the first 14 minutes and lost track of what we were doing well the last\u00a0two minutes of the half," coach Paul Higgins said. "In the third\u00a0quarter, turnovers and lack of execution offensively hurt us. One thing that I can say is that we played hard until the final buzzer." Evart lost 47-29 at Farwell on Feb. 5. Farwell led 22-13 at halftime. Elder had 12 points and Kara Henry five. "We stayed in the game defensively from the first 14 minutes of the game, but we had too many missed defensive assignments in the last\u00a0two minutes of the first half and the third quarter," Higgins said. Evart is home Thursday against Houghton Lake.
