Pine River announces top students
LEROY — The graduates of the Pine River High School Class of 2016 crossed the stage and accepted their diplomas on May 22.
Leading the class academically were co-valedictorians Brady Loop and Grant Ruppert, both of whom earned a 4.0 GPA.
Loop is the son of Kim and Scott Loop. He has participated in track, soccer, National Honor Society and Destination Imagination. He plans to attend Lake Superior State University to become a wildlife biologist for the DNR.
Ruppert is the son of Brent and Amie Ruppert. He has participated in baseball, basketball, National Honor Society and the Leadership Class. He plans to attend Central Michigan University to pursue a degree in environmental health.
Rounding out the top three is the salutatorian, Kyla Truax, who earned a 3.993 GPA.
Truax is the daughter of Stephen Johnson and Holly Gingrich. She has participated in volleyball, softball, National Honor Society, tutoring and served as president of Student Council. She plans to attend the University of Michigan to study biology on the pre-med track.
