Picks & Sticks Stringband to play Thursday at Evart Musicale

EVART - The Evart Downtown Summer Musicale program continues ‘full-speed ahead’ this week with an exciting stage presentation by the Picks & Sticks Stringband.

The performance will be offered on stage at The Depot - home of the Musicale for almost a decade.

The Evart depot is located on Main Street, just one block south of the U.S. 10 intersection, (convenient to local businesses and restaurants.)

The Picks & Sticks Stringband hails from Northville and describe themselves as “ ... a gumbo mixture of acoustical folk, swing, traditional, light pop, western, country, jazz, bluegrass, oldies, and ethnic tunes that captivates audiences of all genres.”

The group features the hammer dulcimer “ ...in a mesmerizing way, spiced up with vivacious vocals, and the hottest, most incredible guitar and banjo playing style you will ever see, combined with surprising arrangements.”

Members of the Picks & Sticks Stringband team have  toured the country and performed for and in a wide variety of venues.

Columnist Mitch Albom described the group as “ ...the can-do band” with a nod to the team’s wide-ranging abilities, skills with differing instruments, and comfortable moving between musical genres.

Internet critique of the group suggests they offer emotional performing that “ ...creates an amazing animated and entertaining atmosphere that reflects widely on their musical talent and provides the viewer an on stage experience that no one can soon forget.”

And they will be playing in Evart Thursday evening at no charge from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Don’t miss out.

And remember the Beatles salute band Shout! in front of the grandstands at the fairgrounds prior to the July 3 fireworks extravaganza.

It’s the best show in town ...and in this part of Michigan for that matter.
