REED CITY — Staff members at a local business are focusing on providing personal customer service, a quick turn-around time for prescription medication and convenience.

Dr. Mike Basma, the pharmacist and manager of CET Medical Pharmacy in Reed City, said he makes sure to involve himself with customers as much as possible to form a comfortable, trusting relationship.

”It’s more like a hometown pharmacy. We care for our patients,” said Basma. “Everyone here is addressed by name. I want to know the people that come in.”

Basma was born in England, raised in Africa and moved to Michigan last year from Nashville. Apart from his doctorate in pharmacy, he holds an MBA and previously worked for CVS Pharmacy before joining CET Medical Pharmacy. He said he likes the small-town atmosphere because he can get to know and interact with his customers while taking the time to learn their needs and double check the safety of each medication when combined.

“I really have a passion for taking care of people,” he added.

In addition to personal attention, Basma said customers can benefit from the business’ location next to Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital and near the Susan P. Wheatlake Regional Cancer Center and the convenience of keeping prices low — by matching or beating competitors. Customers also appreciate the pharmacy’s open hours seven days a week and that they can walk in with the order or have the doctor call, fax or email it to the location.

Also, free home delivery anywhere in Michigan is offered, and in many cases, delivery can be received on the same day the order is filled.

”With the gas prices and the weather in Michigan, who doesn’t want that?” Basma said.

The business also partners with Ferris State University to offer student internships which help provide tools and skills for life after college.
