REED CITY — Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital is recognizing Lynda Patrick, a Hospital Emergency Response Team member and ambulatory care health care technician, for being a proactive member of HERT.

The HERT team is a multi-departmental hazardous materials response team made up of Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital staff. Patrick, along with other HERT team members meet on a quarterly basis to train and exercise together to prepare SHBRH for internal and external hazardous materials incidents.

Patrick recently completed training at the Center for Domestic Preparedness in Anniston, Alabama. The CDP is operated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency and is the only federally-chartered Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) training facility in the Nation.

Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital appreciates Lynda and HERT team members for taking proactive steps to prevent, prepare for and lessen the effects from hazards associated with hazardous material incidents.
