Osceola chorus seeks singers for annual Christmas cantata

The fall colors may be in full array in Osceola County, but it’s already time for area singers to begin thinking about Christmas music.

The Osceola Community Chorus is calling everyone high school age and up to come join in the fun. This year’s Cantata is “A Song Was Born At Christmas”- a musical celebrating the birth of the Messiah - by Tom Fettke. It is filled with traditional carols as well as some beautiful contemporary songs are not often heard during the Christmas Season. The program includes a variety of choral music, readings and carols for audience participation.

The music is arranged for Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass chorus. For those who desire an additional challenge, there are opportunities for soloists within the cantata.

An introductory rehearsal will be held on Monday evening, October 15th at 7 p.m. at the Evart Free Methodist Church on 95th Ave. next to the high school. Anyone wanting to sing or to just learn more about the Community Chorus should attend this meeting. Music and learning CD’s will be available right away. Performances are planned in both Reed City and Evart on December 2.

New and returning singers are welcome. Music reading ability is not necessary.

Class fee is $20 per person to cover the cost of materials. There is a discount for families with more than one singer from the same household.
