The Pioneer Group is announcing several staffing changes at its Osceola and Lake county weekly newspapers.

Jim Crees is moving to our Big Rapids office where he will become the Pioneer’s Features Editor. Jim has done a splendid job as our Osceola County editor. This move allows us to have Jim focus on his greatest strength – writing great stories about interesting people. In addition, Jim will help supervise  the reporting staff, cover state politics and contribute to editorial pages for the daily and both weeklies. Osceola and Lake residents will continue to see Jim in their communities, though serving in this new role as feature writer.

Anyone who currently e-mails Jim content for a weekly newspaper (police blotter, church news) should continue to do so unless he contacts you. You may contact Jim at (231) 592-8394 or jcrees@pioneergroup.com.

Reed City’s own Sarah Neubecker will now serve as our Osceola County reporter. A graduate of Reed City High School and Central Michigan University’s school of journalism, we’re very excited to give Sarah the opportunity to cover Osceola County – the community she calls home. She will be covering city councils, Osceola County Commission, chamber of commerce events, school board meetings and many, many other organizations. You may contact her at (231) 592-8382 or e-mail her at sneubecker@pioneergroup.com.

Many of you already have met our new Osceola County media consultant Danielle Brennan. She has great ideas and excels in helping you get the most for your advertising dollars. Contact her at (231) 592-8368 and dbrennan@pioneergroup.com.

Sarah and Danielle will work in the Big Rapids office where they will be able to collaborate with the Pioneer staff. We will be closing our office in downtown Reed City effective March 1. To contact Osceola Edition staff please continue to call (231) 832-5566.

Sports reporter John Raffel will continue to cover high school sports in Osceola and Lake counties. He may be contacted at (231) 592-8356 or jraffel@pioneergroup.com.

We also plan to install a new, full-time reporter in the Lake County Star office. Interviews are already under way to find the person who will work exclusively in our Baldwin office.

The staffing changes we’ve made will ensure that all of our publications continue to remain strong in the ever-changing media marketplace. We believe these changes will make all of our newspapers better and offer our readers more of the high quality content you expect from us.

If you have any questions, please contact me at (231) 592-8360 or dclark@pioneergroup.com.
