Osceola County deputy charged with misconduct, assault

OSCEOLA COUNTY – Osceola County Sherriff’s deputy John Keathley was arraigned today on charges of misconduct in office and assault and battery.

The misconduct in office and assault happened while Keathley was acting as a detective sergeant on the scene of a crime, said Osceola County Prosecuting Attorney James Sims II.

“Because a law enforcement officer is involved, these get handled with greater scrutiny because a police officer is held to a higher standard,” Sims said.

A preliminary exam is scheduled for April 26 at 1:30 p.m.
