Osceola County Sheriff's deputy injured during training

OSCEOLA COUNTY — An Osceola County Sheriff's Office deputy was injured Wednesday while training, sustaining non-life-threatening injuries.

The deputy was injured at about 5 p.m. when officers were at the Osceola County range performing firearm training and qualification. A deputy was struck by shrapnel caused from deflection/ricochet during one of the training exercises. The deputy was transported to Reed City Hospital by EMS. He is doing well and was not seriously harmed, according to police.

Per Osceola County policy and procedure, all incidents of this nature are jointly reviewed by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office and Michigan State Police.
