HERSEY — Organizers for the Twelfth Annual Osceola Habitat for Humanity Golf Outing have planned a fun-filled day on the green for local golfers to support a worthy cause.
So far, 12 teams are registered for the event, which will take place on June 20 at Spring Valley Golf Course, located at 18396 W. U.S. 10 in Hersey.
Teams will tee off at 9 a.m., with registration beginning at 8 a.m. The cost is $240 per team, which includes a cart.
The event will feature door prizes, awards and gift bags, and Treasurer Pam Wayne said donations of those things are still needed.
“Right now we’re in the process of getting gift bags donated,” Wayne said. “We still need hole sponsors, and we’re working on final preparations to give away door and raffle prizes.”
Last year, the event raised about $6,000 and Wayne said they hope to keep raising more each year.
The golf outing has become one of the biggest sources of funding for the Osceola County Habitat for Humanity since it lost its hut at the Osceola County 4-H FFA Fairgrounds.
Right now Habitat is working on building one new home and putting two families in two existing homes.
“We don’t have a lot of overhead costs, so the donations they make as far as fees to play and raffle tickets all go to the houses,” Wayne said. “It all stays in our area. This is just a good community event to support.”
