Osceola County Community Foundation auction set for May 3

OSCEOLA COUNTY – The foundation that has funded programs and organizations in Osceola County for 20 years will raise operational funds of its own at the annual Osceola County Community Foundation auction on Thursday, May 3.

For the third year running, the OCCF will host the dinner and auction in the Community Building at the Osceola 4-H FFA Fairgrounds.

The event will begin at 5 p.m. and will include dinner, a silent auction and live auction.

“It’s an excellent time to come together for a good meal,” said OCCF director Larry Emig.

The foundation hopes to raise between $18,000 and $20,000 through the event to help fund projects and scholarships in the county.

In the past twenty years, the foundation has awarded 275 scholarships to students from Evart, Marion, Pine River and Reed City Area Public Schools for a total of $256,400. The foundation also has awarded 459 community grants totaling $862,934, for a grand total of more than 1.1 million dollars.

Summer musicale programs in Reed City and Evart, playground construction projects, recycle center equipment and many more local programs and organizations have been funded by the Foundation.

“OCCF gives to worthwhile causes and agencies. It’s an excellent organization and it will be here after we all leave,” Emig said.

Sixty items will be auctioned off at the event, including authentic autographed Henrik Zetterberg and Nicklas Lidstrom Red Wings jerseys, a women’s watch from Roger’s Jewelers, a rocking chair, Tullymore golf package for two, coupon for two free Pompeii’s pizzas each month, a weekend getaway package and much more.

“There’s something for everyone,” Emig said.

Tickets are $30 and can be purchased at the Reed City Chamber of Commerce office at the depot, Pere Marquette Catering or from any board member.

All event expenses will be paid for through ticket sales, and the funds raised from all auctioned items will go into the foundation’s general fund.
