One man killed in three-vehicle accident in Richmond Township
RICHMOND TWP. — Police have released information about a fatal accident that occurred at the beginning of the Labor Day weekend in Richmond Township.
Osceola County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the three-vehicle crash at 5:50 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4. The personal injury accident occurred on U.S. 10 west of U.S. 131.
While driving east, it seems all three vehicles were involved in a rear-end type collision, according to police.
A Ford pickup driven by a 41-year-old man struck a Chevy S-10 Blazer in the rear causing that vehicle to strike another Ford pickup driven by a 30-year-old woman. The driver of the Blazer was a 19-year-old man, who was traveling with three passengers — a 15-year-old girl and a 16-year-old girl, as well as a 53-year-old man.
The 53-year-old passenger, identified as Mark Kemp, of Welston, was killed in the accident. All three drivers and other passengers were treated and released from Reed City Spectrum Health Hospital.
Also responding to the crash were units from the Reed City Fire/Rescue, Osceola County EMS and Michigan State Police. The investigation is pending.
