Officials looking for PRHS Hall of Fame nominations
LEROY — Pine River Area Schools, in conjunction with the Buck Pride Group, is seeking nominations from the community for this year's class of Pine River High School Hall of Fame inductees.
Nominations are being accepted now through Saturday, Oct. 15.
According to Buck Pride Group President Chad Phillips, the organization would like the community to actively participate in the process.
"We need to get the word out about submitting nominations to keep the hall of fame a special way to recognize great contributors to Pine River," he said.
Those eligible for induction include Pine River High School graduates who went on to contribute to society as a whole in a role or fashion that brings credit upon PRAS, the area or humanity; student athletes or scholars; PRAS employees who significantly impacted the school or community; and athletic or academic teams that achieved greatness and symbolize what it means to be a great team. Philanthropists, benefactors or donors also will be considered. Nominations for individuals are good for two years and team submissions last for three years.
"We had an outstanding inaugural class," said PRAS Superintendent Matt Lukshaitis. "Now that we have erected a physical wall to house the plaques of our inductees and identified some of the logistical obstacles, we are determined to make the halftime ceremony and 2017 event even better.
"Think about your former classmates; think about teams that you know who went deep into the state playoff system; and think about the teachers and administrators who set a high bar for Pine River."
For more information about nominating an individual or team, visit the PRAS website pineriver.org or the Buck Pride Group website buckpride.com. Nominating forms also are available in the central office, located at 17445 Pine River Road in LeRoy.
