EVART — The Osceola League for Arts and Humanities is holding a special event to encourage area residents to visit the gift shop and studio, tour the updated facilities and mingle with local writers and artists.

On Saturday, July 2, from noon to 4 p.m. at the league studio in Evart, four local writers will be present to display and sign their books.

Peggy Hoard from Marion has two books. “Christmas Skits for Churches” is a collection of easy to produce Christmas skits and playlets suitable for churches of all sizes. “Questions” is a novella relating the true story of a mother who deals with the suicide of her son.

Also from Marion, Randy Rassoul has an award-winning travel book “I Slept in a Pineapple: A Guide to Historic Vacation Rentals in the United Kingdom and Ireland.” The book showcases a collection of elegant manors and other endangered buildings that have been restored and are now offered as one-of-a-kind vacation rentals.

Christine Seering from Lake is the author of “Mary’s Nativity.” The beautifully illustrated book reminds us that Mary was a young girl and how God abundantly poured out His blessings and miracles upon her. Information on forthcoming books in the series will be available.

Pamela Symonds from Hersey has four Christian romance novels, the popular Windy Jordan series including “The Hollow of His Hand,” The Sun Shall Not Smite You,” “Showers on New Grass” and “The Shadow of His Wings.” Watch for the publication date of her latest work, “Topinabee’s Gift,” a historical novel.

Other highlights of the day include live craft demonstrations by league artists featuring stamp art, how to use the color wheel, making T-shirt yarn, jewelry art and rock tumbling.

“I hope people take a moment to come to the studio to see what’s going on and what OLAH’s all about,” said league board member Pat Ermatinger. “We’re serving refreshments and it’s a great opportunity to meet some interesting and creative folks, both writers and artists.”

The Osceola League for Arts and Humanities is a non-profit group created to promote and support artists, artisans and craftsmen in the greater Osceola County area. The league studio is a venue for members to exhibit and sell handmade items and to sponsor a variety of activities and classes of interest to the artistic community.
