OCCF provides office hours for community interaction

OSCEOLA COUNTY — Involvement of citizens is key to helping communities improve, and Fremont Area Community Foundation Affiliate Manager Shirlee Hopper-Scherch hopes more will become involved in the organization's philanthropic works.

To offer residents the opportunity to voice their opinions, the foundation is hosting open office hours from 9 a.m. to noon on Mondays and from 1 to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays and is located inside the Reed City Depot.

"My goal is to find out what priorities people want the foundation to focus on," Hopper-Scherch said. "We want to identify and focus on causes, such as hunger, poverty, education, homelessness, or anything else citizens feel is important."

Hopper-Scherch believes having open office hours also provides an opportunity for people to learn more about the OCCF and how to become involved either serving on a committee or volunteering at foundation events which take place throughout the year.

"I hope people come from all over and will feel comfortable coming in to chat," she said. "I'm open to hearing their ideas and it's a great chance for people to help."
