OCCF Auction raises $19,000

EVART — The annual Osceola County Community Foundation's annual dinner and auction proved to be successful once again, as $19,000 was raised during the event.

"I thought we did pretty darn good, considering we had a few less auction items than last year," said Larry Emig, director of community relations for the OCCF. "It was nice to see the support."

More than 160 people gathered together on May 1 to support the OCCF, which does its best each year to provide scholarships and grants that support and enhance residents, students, areas and organizations in Osceola County.

"The foundation's mission is to enhance the quality of life for people and citizens of Osceola County," Emig said. "The proceeds from this help us cover the administrative costs, so we want to make sure as many of our funds go out to the community."

The upbeat, 20th annual event took place at the Osceola County 4-H FFA Fairgrounds in Evart. More than 55 silent auction items with the theme of "Pure Osceola" were up for bids, including baseball tickets, artwork, food packages, gift certificates, an Android tablet, quilts, flowers and more. Hors d'oeuvres and drinks were served before a hearty buffet meal by Pere Marquette Catering while dulcimer music performed by Pam Bowman flowed through the building.
