EVART — Evart’s football season ended at 2-7 for the Wildcats, but it was still a solid season for junior Justin O’Dell.

O’Dell started both ways most of the season. He was a halfback on offense and inside linebacker on defense.

He saw varsity action late last season as a sophomore.

“Those games kind of got me prepared for what was coming up this year,” O’Dell said.

On offense, O’Dell’s role has been blocking and catching.

“I can drive people,” he said.

He’s been able to convert on key fourth-down plays.

As an inside linebacker, O’Dell has been getting his fair share of tackles.

“You have to stay aggressive and read your guards,” he said. “It’s been a big jump since last year.”

The Wildcats opened the season with a win at Fremont, but lost six in a row before defeating White Cloud 49-0 on week 8.

“It’s gone pretty good,” O’Dell said. ‘We need to keep our heads in the game and don’t count ourselves out too early.”
