REED CITY — It was the biggest movie night happening yet at Norman Elementary School in Reed City, according to Vicky Bowman, coordinator of the monthly Family Night events.
More than 300 people showed up Thursday to see “Beethoven’s Christmas Adventure,” visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, and share a meal together.
The kids showed up wearing their pajamas and toting their blankets, pillows and stuffed animals, as they found a place to kick back and relax.
They entered the “theatre” in the gym armed with a helping of popcorn as well, thanks to Wesco, after finishing off a meal that included chicken noodle soup, salad and all the trimmings.
Christmas cookies were a special dessert.
Also important to the evening was the opportunity to write a message and add their names to large posters which would be sent soon to servicemen and women, wishing them a Merry Christmas. That was also the night when items for the special Care packages were collected, so they could be readied for mailing in hopes of reaching the recipients right before Christmas.
In addition to receiving a goodie bag to take home, each child attending the event also picked out a book to take home.
Prize donors for the evening included donations from Paradise Salon, H&R Block, Head to Toe Salon and Spa.
If the Christmas Elf looked familiar, she was. Kathy Yost entertained, and it was hard to tell who had the most fun. The kids? Or the elf herself!
