Myers off to strong start Reed City
REED CITY — It’s Kamryn Myers’ senior and final season with the Reed City girls basketball team and the Coyote point guard is hoping to lead her team to plenty of success.
It’s a challenging season with Myers being the only returning starter and one of the few players on the squad with experience. She scored 14 of her team’s 19 points last week in a recent loss to Fremont. She had 25 in a 41-40 loss to Grant last Friday.
The first three years, “have gone pretty well,” Myers, who was on the Class B district title team in 2016, said. She’s improved every season, Myers said. “She’s been alternating from point guard to wing guard.
Last season, Myers was at point guard.
‘I thought it went pretty good,” she said. “We went 9-0 at the beginning of the season. That’s pretty good.”
Myers expects to be among the top scorers for the Coyotes. She indicated shooting from the top of the key has been her strength.
“It’s a matter of following through (on shots),” Myers said.
The Coyotes are home against Pine River on Thursday.
“I think we’ll be a little rough in the beginning,” Myers said, referring to her team’s youth and inexperience. “We’re very young. We’ll get better. We’re pretty scrappy.”
