Motorcyclist killed in Friday crash involving car in Richmond Township

RICHMOND TWP. — A 28-year-old Chase man was killed Friday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle while riding his motorcycle in Richmond Township.

Osceola County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched at 12:24 p.m. to the intersection of 1 Mile Road and 220th Avenue for a two-vehicle accident involving fatal injuries. Investigation revealed an eastbound passenger car, driven by an elderly woman from Evart, failed to yield to a southbound motorcycle, driven by the 28-year-old.

According to police, the man was wearing a helmet. The speed of the motorcycle also is considered to be a factor in the crash, and the names of both drivers are being withheld pending notification of family. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Reed City Area Fire Department and Osceola County EMS.
