Mothers, sons brave weather for annual event
REED CITY — Rain and even a little snow did not stop the Reed City PTO’s annual Mother and Son Event from happening this weekend.
About 100 mothers and sons headed out to SpringHill Camps in Evart for a few hours together.
A brisk walk on the trails led to a couple of outdoor activities including archery, canoeing and Gaga ball, a version of dodgeball.
The popular Flying Squirrel had kids swinging about 50 feet in the air. And there was plenty of opportunity to hit every mud puddle on the way! Unfortunately, the outdoor events did get rained out, however staff accommodated the guests by providing some indoor fun.
The bungee jump and rock wall continued to entertain everyone, along with the usual gym setup of basketball and volleyball.
Snacks of punch, cookies and yogurt and a drawing for doorprizes completed the afternoon.
Volunteers agreed that even with the weather, it was definitely a successful event.
