Meatloaf fundraiser to benefit Evart fireworks

EVART – The second annual Meatloaf Dinner will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Evart Moose Family Center to raise funds for the City of Evart fireworks display on July 3.

Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, fruit, coffee and punch will be served at the event sponsored by the Evart Area Chamber of Commerce. Homemade pies donated from members of the Moose will be auctioned off as well as items for a silent auction. The event also will include a 50-50 raffle and door prize. Tickets cost $5 and can be purchased at the event or in advance at Details Salon, Britz Reality and Evart Sunoco.

“We’d like to plan on over 200 people and raise over $5,000,” Evart chamber Director Connie Douglass said.

The total cost of the fireworks is $18,000. A softball tournament in Reed City also is being planned for May to raise the funds.

The fireworks are a long-standing tradition on the holiday and this year there will be additions to the Evart Fourth of July celebration, including a craft show and a 5-K race.
