EVART – From the small screen to the small city, Matt Giraud had locals and visitors singing and dancing along with a mix of original and well-known songs.

Giraud, a season eight, top-five finalist on “American Idol,” brought the Matt Giraud Experience to Evart on Thursday night, kicking off the 24th annual Evart Summer Concert Series, hosted by the Downtown Development Authority.

Hundreds were able to witness Giraud's vocal and playing abilities as the Experience covered genres of pop, rock 'n' roll, jazz, boogie woogie and rhythm and blues.

A staple in Evart, the Summer Concert Series is funded with grants from the Osceola County Community Foundation and the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, as well as donations. Running through September, the seven remaining concerts will take place at 7 p.m. At the Depot.

The series will continue on Saturday, June 24, when the Swing Kings will perform big band music.

A full concert schedule is available at evart.org or the DDA's Facebook page. In case of inclement weather, performances will take place at Evart High School, located at 6221 95th Ave.
