Masons lodge honors long-serving member

REED CITY – Milton R. “Meg” Wirth, 89, was honored June 7 for 65 years of membership at the Lou B. Winsor Masonic Lodge No. 363 in Reed City.

Wirth has been a member of the lodge since 1947 and has served in all official positions of the lodge, including  Worshipful Master in 1958. Meg currently is the group’s Tiler, a position he has held for 14 years.

His son, Milton R. Wirth Jr., of Iron Mountain, and his daughter, Dr. Nancy Wirth, of Ann Arbor, came to Reed City on the pretense of taking their father out to dinner and instead took him to the lodge for a dinner in his honor.

Meg was surprised when he entered the Masonic Lodge to find not only his lodge members, but many visiting Masons from other Lodges in attendance for this special occasion.

Meg was presented with a certificate of appreciation and a miniature Tiler’s sword for his many years of active service within the lodge.
