Mary's Dream scrapbooking event planned

EVART — To raise awareness about domestic violence, Mary’s Dream — a nonprofit domestic violence organization — is hosting its fourth annual scrapbook event.

The event will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. on Sept. 30 and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Oct. 1 at the Osceola County Fairgrounds community building in Evart. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

The annual event is held in honor of Mary Babb, an Evart mother who was murdered by her estranged husband on Jan. 9, 2007, in the parking lot of the Morning Sun in Mount Pleasant, where she was employed. Thomas Babb was sentenced to 50 to 70 years in prison for Mary’s murder.

Attendees are asked to bring a finger-food or snack to share on Friday. Meals will be provided on the second day of the event.

Preregistration is required by Sept. 19. The cost is $45 for both days or $35 for Saturday only. Proceeds from the event will benefit people in domestic violence situations. More that 75 people are expected to participate.
