HIGHLAND TWP.  — A Marion man was killed Thursday when the Amish buggy he was operating was struck by a vehicle in Osceola County's Highland Township.

At about 8:30 p.m. on July 30, Michigan State Police troopers from the Mount Pleasant Post responded to the crash near 80th Ave. and 19 Mile Road.

During their investigation, police found a southbound vehicle driven by a 26-year-old Evart man had struck a southbound Amish buggy being operated by the Marion man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Marion man was the only occupant of the buggy. The Evart man was uninjured. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing and no further information is available at this time.
