Man tosses bag of meth while fleeing from police  

Suspect remains lodged in jail  

EVART — A man from Blanchard was arrested allegedly fleeing from the scene of a crash and being in possession of suspected drugs.

According to a news release from the Michigan State Police, troopers with the Mount Pleasant Post were on patrol shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16 near Waters Edge Drive and 85th Avenue in Evart when they saw a man run from a vehicle that had just crashed.

Troopers pursued the suspect on foot and quickly apprehended the 48-year-old man.

While in pursuit, troopers saw the man throw a plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine away from himself.

The man was found to have a suspended Michigan driver's license as well as previous warrants out of Osceola and Mecosta counties.

The vehicle he was driving also did not have insurance or proper plates.
