MSP officer involved in shooting near Marion

MARION — A Michigan State Police trooper who responded to a suspicious situation ended up involved in a shooting incident, according to a MSP press release.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:05 p.m. on July 15 when the trooper, based out of the Mount Pleasant post, arrived at the scene of an "erratic subject in a car on its side."

The release does not state what events occurred up to the shooting, but the trooper was not injured, and the subject was pronounced dead.

In addition to MSP troopers, Osceola County EMS personnel responded to the scene.

The incident is being investigated by detectives from MSP's Sixth District Headquarters based out of Rockford.
