REED CITY — Families looking for a budget-friendly activity may want to consider the free family movie hosted by the Mecosta Osceola Coalition to Reduce Underage Substance Abuse from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 12, at the Reed City Depot.

The featured movie will be Disney’s animated "Moana." The film is rated PG. Moana embarks on a dangerous quest. Luckily (or not) she has the help of the legendary demigod, Maui, on her high seas adventure. Popcorn and water will be available free of charge.

“March is Parenting Awareness Month and we want to encourage families to come on out and enjoy a fun movie together,” said Kim Livingston, the coalition’s coordinator. “All are welcome but due to the limited space, we will not be taking reservations. This offer is available on a first-come, first-served basis to the first 45 people.”

Minors must be in the company of a responsible adult.

“We hope to provide more opportunities like this in the future,” said Livingston. “One of most important things parents can do to help prevent drug abuse in their children is to spend time together as a family doing fun things.”
