Mid Michigan Community Action’s Early Head Start and the Great Start MOISD are partnering to provide play groups as a free service to all families in the community.

The “First Friends Infant and Toddler Community Playgroup” is a place for families to come together and have fun. The playgroups are offered twice monthly, on the first and third Thursdays from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the Reed City Michigan Works Building.

The main focus of the play groups is to promote the development of children from birth up to three-years-old. The play groups are held in a classroom that is designed to support the development of young infants who are working on “tummy time” and learning about their world. Toddlers are supported as well through working on more advanced skills such as building blocks, dramatic play and solving puzzles.

Each playgroup has a consistent routine which includes a nutritious snack, free play with a variety of toys and manipulative, art, sensory experiences, literacy, music and movement. Parents also have the opportunity to support their children as they learn to play and have fun with others. A free book and community resources are shared with families at each playgroup.

If interested in attending play groups please drop by during one of our scheduled times; no registration is required. Please contact Heidi Ward at (231)791-7069 or Judy Lochner (231)592-9605 for more information.
