REED CITY — Members and supporters of the Reed City Area District Library hope local residents will show a little love toward the facility and what it provides for the community.

The Love Your Library Walk will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12, at Reed City High School. Walkers will trek through the school hallways.

"It's a great event for all ages and you can participate as little or as much as you want," said library director Heather Symon Bassett. "It's a good fundraiser and it always ends up being a lot of fun."

To donate, individuals can sponsor a library staff walker by a per-lap donation or they can stop into the high school to join the walkers with a one-time donation. Those who wish to donate, but not walk, are welcome to drop off donations at the event.

Symon Bassett will be one of the participants again this year.

"It's a different environment and setting in which to see the library patrons," she said. "You see a different side to them and that's always interesting."

The walk also is a fun and perfect opportunity to get some exercise in a warm environment, Symon Bassett added.

The general goal is to raise at least $1,000 and money raised from the walk will go toward the new library project.
