LEROY — It may be hard to say, and there may be little definitive reason for the name, but one thing is for sure ...

Razzasque Days is always a lot of fun for residents of and visitors to the LeRoy community.

Razzasque Days is set for this weekend — Friday and Saturday, July 8 to 9.

The fun begins Friday with the fourth annual Razzasque Days Open golf tournament at The Rose.

At 11 a.m. that morning, the kids’ parade will be held down the main street of the village celebrating the theme: LeRoy “A Sweet Place To Live”

From 11 a.m. through 6 p.m. there will be concessions and games in the Fire Hall.

At noon, there will be kids’ games in the LeRoy Village Memorial Park.

From 1-9 p.m. there’ll be lots of excitement with new giant inflatables in the Al Johnson and Sons parking lot.

Throughout the afternoon there will be bingo at the VFW Post, puppet plays for the kids, a moonwalk and bungee jump for youngsters, a karaoke contest, a chili cook-off, a spaghetti supper, and lots, lots more.

At 7 p.m. Miss LeRoy of 2010 will be crowned at the Village Memorial Park.

From 9 p.m. -1 a.m, folks will have an opportunity to kick it up a bit at the street dance in the park.

At dusk, a huge fireworks display will light up the night sky. Don’t miss it!

Saturday, things really get hopping in LeRoy.

Registration for the fourth annual Razzasque Days 5K Run begins at 7:30 a.m. at the elementary school. The race begins At 8:15 a.m.

(There also are morning dodgeball tournaments planned.)

At 9:45 a.m. there will be a flag raising ceremony in the village park under the auspices of the Pine River VFW Post.

Immediately following the ceremony, at 10 a.m., the Grand Parade will head out with Grand Marshals Ray and Carolyn Fewless greeting admirers along the way.

The subtle incense of a chicken barbecue will already be filling the air with serving beginning at 11 a.m. — or immediately following the parade.

At the same time, fans of classic automobiles will be able to enjoy the ninth annual Car Show in front of the hardware store.

Also planned are horseshoe tournaments, more bingo, lots of fun for kids, and an arm wrestling competition in the afternoon.

From 6:30-7:30 p.m. visitors can enjoy a musical performance by Steven D & The Keys at the Village Memorial Park.

There’s lots more fun to be had with a little something for everybody during LeRoy’s annual Razzasque Days celebration.

There’ll be venders galore, softball tourneys, games in the fire hall, a quilt and bake sale, a book sale and much, much more.
