Lake residents open auto shop in Evart

EVART — A new auto repair shop has opened in Evart, and Terry and Zoe Thornsberry are ready to assist motorists.

The husband and wife team from Lake recently opened Terry's Auto, located at 302 W. 7th St. (U.S. 10).

"We like the town and how quaint it is, but we can't say it was the city that drew us," Zoe said. "We saw this building and it reminded us of days gone by. The building spoke to us."

Terry has about 35 years of experience with car repair, which stems from his family.

"I was just born into it, I guess," he said. "My dad worked on cars and my brothers are mechanics."

Besides family experience, Terry attended classes offered by General Motors for his training and is state licensed and master certified. His specialty is drivability diagnosis and can work on both foreign and domestic vehicles.

"I really enjoy dealing with the people that come in," he said. "I also enjoy the satisfaction of fixing something other people can't. I like the challenge."

In addition to general repair, the business offers oil changes, tune ups, tires and air conditioning service. Terry purchases most of his parts locally, from Evart Parts Plus down the street.

"Our goal is, of course, to make a living, but also to give people good service for a good price," Terry said. "I'm going to treat people in the way I like to be treated. I'll be honest and I don't like to play games."
