REED CITY — Most parents can relate to the fact that time is a commodity and budgets are growing tighter. Many do not have the resources to travel long distances to buy new clothing, which can be expensive.

For Mary Neal, opening up a business that not only offers children's clothing, but children's apparel for a low price, was a no-brainer.

"There is a big need for clothing here, especially for the youth," Neal said. "I wanted to fill that need and offer something for people so they didn't have to drive long distances."

The Kid's Nest, located in the Vic's Plaza off Chestnut in Reed City, offers new and gently used clothing and accessories for children from infant to young teen. The items are neatly organized in both the front and rear of the building.

"We buy the used from anybody, and we give them cash," Neal said. "They bring in the clothing in a box, we will give them a form to fill out and offer a price for the clothing. Whatever we don't take, we will give back."

Clothing should be without tears or stains. Currently, she is accepting clothing for the fall and winter seasons, including winter coats.

Although the business just opened, residents have stopped into the store and offered positive feedback. When shoppers look for something specific the business doesn't have, Neal will ask for those items on Facebook or through word-of-mouth opportunities.

"I think I will enjoy being around the kids," Neal added. "I love children. I'm enjoying this and having a good time."
