Hospitals host electronic recycling

REED CITY — Residents who are unsure where to dispose of their electronic items have the opportunity to get rid of the pieces for free while making sure they aren't piling up in landfills.

Spectrum Health Big Rapids and Reed City Hospitals will host an electronic recycling event from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16 at Reed City Hospital, and on Friday, Oct. 24, at Big Rapids Hospital. The event is free and open to public.

Examples of acceptable items include:

  • Telephones / Cell phones
  • VCRs / DVD players / Video game units
  • Televisions / LCDs
  • Calculators
  • Radios / Stereos / CD players
  • MP3 players / iPods
  • Copiers / Scanners / Fax machines
  • Microwaves / Blenders / Other kitchen electronics (NO large appliances)
  • Laptops / MACs / PCs
  • Monitors / Speakers
  • Keyboards / Mice
  • Printers / Scanners
  • Docking stations / Routers
  • Power cords / Cables
  • Modems / Memory sticks / Circuit boards
  • Internal or External hard drives (All computer hard drives will have the data wiped)
