Homecoming hits Osceola County schools

OSCEOLA COUNTY — Streets will soon be closed for evenings full of school spirit as homecoming is set for Friday, Sept. 28, in Evart and Reed City.

Leading up to the homecoming parade, which will begin at 4 p.m. in both Evart and Reed City, local students are spending this week celebrating with various dress-up days.

At Evart Elementary School, today, Wednesday is Wild Side Day, in which students can wear socks and shirts with animals on them. Thursday is Future Me, or Dress for Success Day, and on Friday, youths can show their school spirit by dressing in blue and gold.

For the middle school, Wednesday is Mutant Day, when students can dress as wacky as they want, as long as their outfit meets the dress code. On Thursday, students and their friends can match for Sidekick/Twin Day and Friday is Super Fan Day, in which youths can show their Evart pride by dressing in blue and gold.

Wednesday is Villain Day at Evart High School, and will be followed by Twin Day on Thursday. High-schoolers can dress in blue and gold on Friday to participate in the last day of homecoming week.

The homecoming game, against Beal City High School, will begin at 7 p.m.

Homecoming also has come to Reed City Area Public Schools, and leading up to Friday's game against Big Rapids High School, students can participate in various dress-up days.

Across the RCAPS district, Wednesday is class color day. At G.T. Norman Elementary, colors for each grade level are: kindergartners, red; first-grade students, blue; second-graders, gray; third-grade students, green; fourth-graders, orange; fifth-grade students, black; and staff, purple. For the middle school, colors for each grade are: sixth-graders, blue; seventh-grade students, red; eighth-graders, white; and staff, green. In the high school, colors for each grade are: freshmen, yellow; sophomores, blue; juniors, green; seniors, red; and staff, white.

Thursday is Sport/Camo day for RCAPS students and on Friday, students can show their school spirit by dressing in red and black.

The homecoming game will begin at 7 p.m.
