HERSEY — Osceola County will get a little bit spookier as Hersey’s Halloween Trunk or Treat returns on Oct. 31 for its third year.

The trunk or treat will start at 5:30 p.m. and will remain open until 7:30 p.m. on Main Street in downtown Hersey.

Debuting in 2010, Hersey’s Halloween Trunk or Treat has become a popular event allowing families a fun, safe central location to trick or treat without having to drive long distances between houses. The 2011 event drew more than 200 trick-or-treaters haunting Hersey’s Main Street in the first hour. Families from Big Rapids, Cadillac and as far away as Grand Rapids haunted Main Street last year.

Parents are encouraged to join their little ghouls and goblins in suiting up in their favorite family friendly costume too. People who wish to distribute candy during the event are also encouraged to dress in costume. Gather your family and friends and creep over to Hersey for the fun.

Hersey’s Halloween Trunk or Treat is planned and hosted by The Hersey Group. Sponsors for the 2012 Trunk or Treat include MOSAIC Potash, Happy Tails Grooming, Quality Concrete Construction and Bernie’s Doughnut Shoppe. Candy donations are welcome and may be delivered to Happy Tails in Reed City. Volunteers to hand out candy are also encouraged.
