Hersey to celebrate Christmas on Main

HERSEY — The village of Hersey will celebrate the Christmas season this weekend.

The Hersey Group, in cooperation with the Village of Hersey and MOSAIC Potash, will host Hersey's Christmas on Main on Friday, Dec. 5. The annual event is an old-fashioned, small town Christmas celebration for the entire family.

As Hersey's Christmas on Main grows, changes have come to the event. This year's event will inaugurate the all new Village of Hersey Christmas tree with the lighting of the tree taking place at 6:30 p.m. The new tree was donated by Duddles Tree Farm.

As has become tradition, the tree lighting ceremony is set to include the honoring of this year's Hersey's Person of the Year.

This year the Hersey Group wants local input in choosing Hersey's Person of the Year. Those wishing to nominate a candidate can send a private message through The Hersey Group's Facebook page detailing why the nominee deserves to be the Person of the Year. The person with the most nominations will be honored during Christmas on Main.

Hersey's Person of the Year is designed to honor the man or woman who's contributions to our community have lead to its betterment and growth during the past twelve months. In 2012, Jim Jackson was honored as the inaugural Person of the Year, and Wayne Huisman won the honor last year.

The event also will feature Santa Claus, who will be greeting children at the Hersey Village Hall from 6:45 p.m. until 8:15 p.m.
