HERSEY — As children add the last few items to their Christmas lists, the Village of Hersey will host its annual old-fashioned, small town Christmas celebration for the entire family.

At 6 p.m. on Friday, the Hersey Group, in cooperation with the Village of Hersey and MOSAIC Potash, will once again celebrate Hersey’s Christmas on Main.

This annual event will include an appearance by Santa Claus from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hersey Village Township Hall. Children of all ages are welcome to stop in and let Santa know exactly what they would like to see under the Christmas tree on Christmas morning.

Parents should bring their camera in order to snap a picture with Santa and the kids.

At 8 p.m., the Jolly Old Soul will make his way outside for the lighting of Charlie, Hersey’s Christmas Tree, at 8:15 p.m. The tree lighting ceremony is set to include the singing of Christmas songs, a reading of the Christmas story from the Gospel of Luke and the honoring of the Hersey’s Person of the Year.

Hersey’s Person of the Year will be chosen by the Hersey Group in cooperation with the Village of Hersey, and will honor the man or woman whose contributions to the community have lead to its betterment and growth over the past 12 months.  The award will be presented annually during Hersey’s Christmas on Main, prior to the lighting of Charlie the Christmas Tree.

Last year, the inaugural Christmas on Main drew a modest crowd; however, the size of the crowd was far beyond expectations. Residents see Hersey’s Christmas on Main as a chance to celebrate an old-fashioned Christmas with friends and neighbors, and an opportunity to come together and be thankful for the gifts the community has received in the last year.

Hersey’s Christmas on Main is hosted by The Hersey Group, and is sponsored by MOSAIC Potash.  For more information contact Ernie Clark at (231) 912-1991.
