Hersey church welcomes community with Easter meal
HERSEY — For the second year in a row, friends and strangers sat down next to each other to enjoy a free Easter meal and celebrate the holiday.
The dinner was hosted by members of the Hersey United Methodist Church, who helped prepare, cook and serve those who walked through the building doors. Thick-sliced ham, cheesy potatoes, fresh vegetables, salads, bread rolls, beverages and a variety of desserts were on hand for all to enjoy from 1 to 5 p.m.
Lisa Beilfuss, event organizer, said sharing a meal together makes the Easter holiday more special and is a cause that touches her heart.
"The best part is seeing people coming in and enjoying each other's company," she said. "It doesn't get any better than that."
