OSCEOLA COUNTY — From interactive health monitoring programs to digital literacy training, high-speed Internet plays a vital role in the lives of individuals in the modern world. With 49 percent of households in Osceola County unable to tap in to a high-speed connection, business owners and community members are invited to become part of Osceola County’s Broadband Expansion Team.

Interested individuals met last month for a preliminary meeting, but others still are invited to join the team. The team’s next meeting will be at 10 a.m. on Oct. 23 at the Osceola County Courthouse. The group will work to improve the access, adoption and use of broadband across Osceola County, with the help of Connect Michigan, a nonprofit organization committed to helping connect communities in Michigan with high-speed Internet.

At the meeting, broadband providers who provide service within Osceola County will present their current capabilities, future plans and any issues they face relevant to Osceola County.

Anyone interested in attending the meeting or looking for more information about the team, may contact Osceola County community developer Dan Massy at (231) 832-7397.
