Handmade Christmas crafts available at Evart Pop Up store

Original tenant returns this year

EVART — One year later, the original tenant in the Evart Pop Up store has returned and brought some friends with her.

Lynn Cour, an Evart resident for over 15 years, will bring her handmade Christmas crafts to the pop up store for the month of December. She will be joined by four additional local crafters who will offer items to decorate your home for the holidays.

“All of the participants are local artists, and this is all handmade items, all original designs,” Cour said. “We plan to be in the store for the whole month of December.”

Shoppers to the store will find a variety of wood carved decorative items, uniquely designed canes, snow babies made from socks, handmade jewelry and other miscellaneous craft items.

“Last year I did so well I sold out in four days and had rented it for a week,” Cour said. “I thought this time I would do it for the whole month and bring some friends with me so that it would give everybody a little bit more. It is kind of like a mini craft show.”

Cour has been creating art and selling it for most of her adult life, she said. Her and her husband work together to create original designs to decorate the home for every season.

Typically, she sells her work at craft shows throughout the state, but for the last two years has brought her art to the Evart pop up store.

Cour said previously that having a craft store is something she has always thought about doing but was never brave enough. Moving into the pop up store is a way to give it a trial run before committing too much.

“This is still something I would like to do every few months,” she said.

Although Cour creates items for the different seasons, for now most of her work will focus on Christmas.

The store will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday, beginning Dec. 3 through Dec. 30, at 211 N. Main St. in Evart.

The Evart DDA/Main Street Authority renovated the building that was once the barbershop on Main Street in downtown Evart and has made it available for interested entrepreneurs.

The pop up store is a low-cost way for new entrepreneurs to test out their business plans before making a long term financial commitment.
