Habitat hosts mortgage burning cerebration

Partner families paid in full

CADILLAC — The Wexford Osceola Habitat for Humanity hosted a mortgage burning ceremony for two of their partner families that have paid off their mortgages this past weekend.

"Habitat is thrilled to announce two of our families have paid off their mortgage," said executive director Amy Gibbs. "We wish the Baize and Keller families the very best on this very exciting day for them."

The community was invited to come out to the celebration on Saturday, during which Habitat staff burned the mortgages of the two local families. Following the burning, attendees were treated to seasonal goodies.

"We could not do what we do without the many partners we have in our community," Gibbs said. "Safe and affordable housing is key to every person’s success."
