Good News Club begins meeting

REED CITY — The Good News Club is both G.T. Norman Elementary School and Reed City Middle School is back in action, according to Deb Moore, facilitator for both groups.

Moore said the Norman group meets on Tuesdays from 3:30-5 p.m. The Middle School group meets on Thursdays from 3:15-4:45 p.m.

The first meeting for this school year was last week, with four girls and three adults at Norman beginning a new unit from the Old Testament.

The Club is studying the time period before David became the king of Israel. Moore said that study includes looking at how his difficulties with King Saul shaped the shepherd boy into a “man after God’s own heart.”

The first meeting at the Reed City Middle School included four youngsters and three adults, Moore said.

Cindy McKnight will be sharing the story using flannel graph boards, which will allow the children a hands-on approach in learning the Bible story.

Moore said, “The aim of CEF is to work with parents to encourage the building of strong moral character based on knowledge of, and a relationship with our Creator.”

Forms are available in the school offices. Children must have signed parental permission and a contact telephone number in case of an emergency.
