OSCEOLA COUNTY — Audreyonna Joy Humphries, 21, of Marion, is in custody following the death of 13-year-old Jasmine Rogers of Marion and injuries suffered by two other passengers from a car accident that occurred at about 3 p.m. on Friday on 20th Avenue near 21 Mile Road in Marion Township.

When deputies from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Department arrived on the scene, Rogers had been pronounced dead.

A second 13 year-old girl was in critical condition and airlifted to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.

After investigating, deputies learned that a 12-year-old female was taken to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City where she was treated and released. It was later learned that the driver had fled on foot.

Deputies looked for witnesses at about 10:30 a.m. on Saturday and were informed of a possible location for the suspect in Clare County.

Officers surrounded the home that the suspect had broken into and the suspect surrendered to police without incident.

Humphries was transported to the Osceola County Jail where she was booked on several charges, including manslaughter and failing to stop at a scene of an accident when at fault casing a death. She faces two felony sentence of 15 years. Bond has been set for $100,000.

The crash is still currently under investigation. The case is being prepared for review by the Osceola County Prosecutor.

The Marion Fire Department, Osceola County Emergency Medical Services and Evart Police Department assisted at the scene.
