Girl Scout fall nuts and candy sale ongoing
GRAND RAPIDS — Girl Scouts across northern and western Michigan are gearing up for the annual Girl Scout Fall Product Sale Program, which kicked off October 17 and runs through December 4, 2011. The program starts with initial pre-orders from Oct. 17 to Nov. 4, 2011. Booth sales will take place Nov. 14 through Dec. 4, 2011.
Through this unique fundraising program, girls have the opportunity to not only earn money for their troop activities, but an opportunity to learn essential life skills. While participating in the fall program, girls will set and achieve goals, improve their financial literacy, and learn about teamwork through activities based on this year’s theme, “Investing in Today = Success for Tomorrow.”
Girl Scout nuts and candy prices range in price from $5-$12 an item, and all proceeds stay within the Michigan Shore to Shore council to help fund girl-led programming. A portion of the proceeds also goes directly to the girls, whether individually or in a troop, for service projects, trips or to participate in special events.
The nuts and candy varieties include: cashews, chocolate covered almonds, chocolate covered raisins, peanut butter dreams, caramel treasures, double-dipped peanuts, fruit slices, butter toasted peanuts, chocolate truffles (sugar free), dark chocolate covered pretzels (in our historic 100th Anniversary Girl Scout tin), mint treasures and more.
New this year to the Fall Product Sale Program is the Gift of Caring program, where customers will have the option to donate a magazine subscription to the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. They may also choose to make a $5 donation to Operation Care Package Michigan and a package of nuts will be sent overseas to Military Troops.
